I predict is going to be a lot of financial damage to a deep degree until the common man has been put through tremendous damage because business rules the country not the people. Greed will rear its ugly head like you have not seen before. I hope I am proved wrong...but knowing the slow rate of growth humans have with their egos I doubt AI will be controlled until much damage has occurred.

(3,517 posts)the job losses. I for one am damn sick and tired of talking to some computer program in a business phone when they are not even capable of solviing my problem but business can have more profit if they don't have to pay employees and who gives a damn if their computer program can only repeat itself and not solve something not in its programing. I have called Comcast here in the Northwest and the first thing you get is a canned computer program and if your problem is not in their programing you will play with the phone call for several minutes until it dawns on the computer program it cannot help you.

(3,517 posts)just so people can survive...Sometimes I wonder if this is not being expressed now by more killing than I ever saw in 1950. Maybe there is more stress and hopelessness and some people get angry at powerlessness and pain and act out in anger. Blind as bats because it not in a lot of people's lives yet. I have a saying that there is nothing like a taste of your own medicine to cure you of ignorance and selfishness. Maybe when more people suffer with the financial set up the general public will finally understand personally.

(2,054 posts)Climate change is literally happening before their eyes yet many of them think it's just bad weather.
There will be many coming here to inform you that you are just a Chicken Little or perhaps The Boy Who Cried Wolf. Lots and lots of people are in denial and will awaken really soon, not in 20, 50 or 100 years but more like during the next American president's term. Whoever gets that job is in for a hell of one.
Don't worry, go shopping!

Could the world feasibly switch to all-nuclear power generation? If so, would that be a good counter to global warming? originally appeared on Quora: the knowledge sharing network where compelling questions are answered by people with unique insights.
Answer by Mehran Moalem, PhD, UC Berkeley, Professor, Expert on Nuclear Materials and Nuclear Fuel Cycle, on Quora:
I have taught courses in Nuclear Engineering and a few seminar courses in alternative energies. I also worked for two years starting up six solar factories around the globe. In spite of my personal like for nuclear engineering, I have to admit it is hard to argue for it. Here is the simplified math behind it.
WHAT IN THE FUCK IS THAT?
