Trump vows, if elected, to require every employee pass a new civil service test

'Full-blown fascism': Donald Trump envisions a 'civil service test' for 'every federal employee'
Story by Brandon Gage • 11h ago

Former President Donald Trump issued a new statement on Friday vowing that if he is reelected, he will force public servants to pass a politically-themed loyalty test or face termination.

--

"Finally, I will require every federal employee to pass a new civil service test demonstrating an understanding of our constitutional limited government. This will include command of due process rights, equal protection, free speech, religious liberty, federalism, the Fourth Amendment protections against unreasonable search and seizure – I know all about that at Mar-a-Lago, don't I – and all other constitutional limits on federal power," Trump said. "We will put unelected bureaucrats back in their place, liberate the US economy, and attract millions of jobs and trillions of dollars to our shores. Thank you very much."

...and the courts to rip this to shreds. Trump doesn't have a clue what he's even saying. These are clearly words put in his mouth by someone else. (Bannon? MTG? Who knows?). Every time I hear Trump these days, it sounds like he's pandering to some new fringe far-right group they found in an obscure corner of the internet. Groypers. radtrads, "sovereign citizens", Integralism, Distributism, it all runs together like mud.

Someone said recently that Trump's decline is accelerating to the point where he is now approaching the "fat Elvis" phase.

For those interested in the disaster of Soviet Lysenkoism, here's a place to start.

Well, not legally as we now understand the word "legally", that is. Of course, if he gets into the White House again, current US law will mean as much as Weimar law did once Hitler took control

To the Constitutional prohibition against religious tests for office. We all know that his christian followers will demand that their views get put into the test, to weed out any who don't share the same religious views.

That will be fun.

I recall when he did not understand judicial review - how dare those judges say the POTUS could not do something!

The executive branch must enforce the law as it is. I guess he doesn't get that part either.

Aside from the merits of the concept, can a president do this, by executive order perhaps? Having worked in the private sector all my life, except for a stint in the army, I have no idea what is involved in applying for a civil service job.
