(22,582 posts)The source you linked says:
Unless I missed something, they don't say how many were killed (as opposed to "just" wounded), but 6,000 deaths out of a total of 19,000 "killed or wounded" doesn't sound disproportionate to me. (I can't believe I just typed that, but hopefully you all know what I mean.

(38,632 posts)That site has a link to CDC data, from which I got this:
363 deaths of children [ages 0-11] by firearm, in 2021.
That's too many of course, but I'm glad it's not 6,000+.

(38,632 posts)It shows about 2450 teens and children were victims of gun homicide; another 1295 committed suicide with guns, and there were a few other categories.

(267 posts)"SIX THOUSAND American children were killed by guns last year."
Teen vs child, and death vs injuries are big distinctions. Someone with Tiedrich's reach should do better. Certainly, we never let it slide when some RWer does it. I'm sure they like to play games with something like fentanyl OD statistics [although that, too, is a serious problem and getting worse every year].

(267 posts)According to the Gun Violence Archive someone posted below, 996 children were killed or injured by firearms in 2022, with 314 of those being deaths.
Incidentally, I have as many "preciouses" as Tiedrich has sources that he cited. I guess...why bother, right? He's only passing this stuff off to a million plus followers, plus however many random eyeballs it reaches.

(9,445 posts)For me the bigger issue is that kids are not forced to attend Drag Queen Story time. If people do not want drag queens to read to their kids, those people can just keep their kids from attending the storytime. I could understand the anger if Drag Queen Storytime was a mandatory thing, but it is not mandatory. There is no reason for the reaction from Republicans.
