When the leader of a cult is destroyed, the cult fades away. One day Trump is going to be destroyed and MAGA will fade away. History tells us so.
Manson cult.
Jim Jones cult.
Koresh cult.
Bin Laden cult.
The list goes on and on.

Not a big leap that as adults they accepted whatever their cult leader said by faith alone. Swear allegience to the cult leader and never ask questions or challenge the evidence of what the cult leader says is "truth."

(11,971 posts)Probably created by Bill Gates and microsoft to demean apple........
My son had every apple computer from the first one......Friends who were brainwashed by Microsoft would harass him and laugh at him.
He started buying Apple Stock right from the first when he was a teenager. He had acquired quite a bit by the time he was 20.
He still has it, and often kids his friends that stuck with Bill Gates Groupies...............
I would like to calculate what 100 shares of Apple stock are currently worth, being bought early on, and do the same with Microsoft.......
Side by side, apples to apples. Pardon the pun.........
I am not savvy enough to do it myself, maybe someone out there could research and run the numbers............

What I'm talking about are the thousands, perhaps hundreds of thousands, of people out there whose relationship with Apple is obsessive and, one would think, unhealthy -- the people who, like crazed sports fans, will fight to the death defending a team that doesn't even know their names.
For years, the standing joke about these folks has been that they've "drunk the Kool-Aid," or been trapped in the black hole of the Steve Jobs Reality Distortion Zone, or that they are the geek version of Scientologists. But, as amusing as that is, that characterization has never seemed quite right.
It may have all of the nasty features of other cults: the demand of total allegiance, punishment of any deviation from the accepted orthodoxy, a messianic leader who is assumed faultless and wise in the face of any evidence to the contrary, disproportionate attacks on doubters, heretics and other outsiders, a siege mentality maintained even in victory, and a deep pride in being among the select few. Scary stuff, indeed.

(130,538 posts)which sort of explains why they "faded away" - Jim Jones, Koresh, and don't forget Marshall Applewhite. When TFG finally goes to his toasty-warm eternal reward, he won't be taking all 60 million with him because many will have attached their lips to the plump hindquarters of Ron DeSantis or some other freak hoping to follow in TFG's lift-enhanced footsteps. Not all will fade away, I'm afraid; all TFG did was make it socially acceptable to be an ignorant racist asshole.

(4,913 posts)It will not be the same as they follow Trump. Trump is a freak of nature. I have never seen so many Americans follow someone to their destruction or deaths like the people who followed Trump. It was blind nihilism. Mass delusion. Tens of millions of Americans literally lost touch with reality. I doubt we will see anything like the following of Trump any time soon.

And you didn't think that was odd or inaccurate ? There have been a lot of numbers just thrown out there.
Now for those that were just tossing out number can keep an accurate count.

(4,913 posts)Then someone starts trouble by posting something not related to my post. This is why some posts get out of hand. People get upset and then say things they would not usually say.
Scrivener7
(59,522 posts)over and over and over at all. If someone says something he finds upsetting, how can he possibly stop himself from saying vile things?
So the solution is that everyone has to be very careful not to say something that upsets that poster. Because that would be "starting trouble."

(4,913 posts)Accusing me of saying awful things over and over and over again is not true. That is an attack.
Your claim that I attacked the mental health of another poster was taken way out of context. I made it clear I was concerned about the poster. I actually posted that. I admit I could have stated my concern in a better way. But in no way was I directly attacking the mental health of another poster. If I was I would have said things like you are nuts, You are crazy, out of your mind. You are mentally ill, get help. I did not say that. I have never said anything like that.
I truly thought something was wrong by the way the poster was responding and also not responding to my posts and I became concerned.
Your disagreement with me is about our opinions on whether trump and the coup plotters will be indicted.
Scrivener7
(59,522 posts)and it happened multiple times.
I don't really care about your opinions about trump and the coup plotters.
When a poster questions the mental health of DUers who disagree with him, I'm going to call that out. Because that's a despicable thing to do.

(13,248 posts)Unfortunately, the deep veins of American racism and misogyny will remain long after Trump is no longer headline news. The underlying issues that have contributed to the MAGA cult are complicated and not easily resolved; this cult is merely a symptom of something much larger.
