WOW! The civil war inside the Republican Party has finally started.

For many years main stream Republicans were terrified of Trump and the MAGA members. They were terrified they would lose their seats if they fought back. That is changing fast right before our eyes. Moscow Mitch is going after the MAGA members in the Senate. He and Rick Scott are at each others throats over SS and Medicare. He removed other members from committees. Mitch knows MAGA members will lose them elections.

The same thing is happening in the House at a lower level because McCarthy has balls the size of peas. But it is happening.

Mainstream Republicans know Trump is no longer a major threat to them. They know they cannot win elections with MAGA candidates.

It's game on. Enjoy the show.

Lord knows how many others.

McCarthy only concern is warm bodies. He even allowed Santos to see top secret materials on China. Green, Jordan and many others from the psycho squad are seeing top secret documents. That is extremely frightening.

McTurtle only sees a opponent (Scott) that threatens him.

The only one sorta speaking out in favor of Pres Biden is Romney(for now) because he is considering a run for the presidency.

They all seem to be still scared to cross shithole and their donors.

Are they at the first stages - disarray, probably, and they will do their best to take the country down with them.

He can certainly cost them the election by running a third party or by being pissy. But in reality, they have a very small chance of winning against a popular incumbant no matter who the opponent is.

Mcconnel has always been more interested in the senate than the potus anyway, though he likes to control all 3. It is eating him alive that judges are being confirmed at a record pace.

It's the congressional and senate races he is trying to preserve. Tfg won't be a factor after 24. They have the chance to pull the bandaid off quickly before anther trumpist rises and pollutes the system for years to come.

Just a thunk.

Losing the Republican majority in the Senate and his position as majority leader. He blames Trump and the MAGA cult for that, and he's mad as hell at the whole caboodle.

Remember that scene in Star Trek 3: The Search for Spock when Kirk is fighting the Klingon captain? His last words as he kicks the Klingon off a cliff are, "I *kick* have had enough *kick* of you *kick*" and the Klingon goes flying off into oblivion. I think that's about where Mitch is with Trump right now.

In addition, he voiced opposition to Rick Scott's sunset plan almost a year ago, saying: "If we're fortunate enough to have the majority next year, I'll be the majority leader. I'll decide in consultation with my members what to put on the floor. We will not have as a part of our agenda a bill that raises taxes on half the American people and sunsets Social Security and Medicare within five years." (Source: https://www.fool.com/investing/2022/05/03/the-must-read-bidenrelevant-prominent-politician-q/ )

Mitch is a lot of things, but stupid isn't one of them. He knows that going after SS is a stupid idea, and he's more than willing to use that issue as a cudgel against the MAGA cultists who (as he sees it) robbed him of his Senate majority leadership. He's fed up and ready to make them pay!

Hmm, all of a sudden I feel an urge to go make popcorn. Wonder why that is?

There are those who want the Republican party to remain intact. While they are monsters, they are the reasonable ones. In this mix are strange, strange bedfellows. While this all look and sounds like crazy wall conspiracy stuff, it is pretty plain and obvious. Our conservatives are now blatant Bond villains.
There are the ones that serve our military industrial complex and well linked to our oil companies. There are the ones that serve Putin. Then there are those who feed at the hands of the Koch and Mercer families. Strange bed fellows link oil to and away from Putin and the Saudi families. Strange bed fellows link Putin to the Koch and Mercer types. Strange bed fellow links are cracking. All of them are Fascist but some only want the chaos to make and hide money in. Others go farther and want a new world order with them not just owning most of it but with the easy ability to go after their enemies.

We are in strange times when the Cheney family starts to look reasonable. Hopefully they pursue their war among their ranks and thin their herd without using the rest of the world as pawn for their battles.

say anything in public about what they learned of National Security. "People" in the know, who are expected to know those things, certainly will be able to inform Joe if any of those say anything they shouldn't. Then you WILL see arrests, indictments and convictions.

No, I'd rather be worried about their "Blackmailing" officials to get favors by threatening to give that info to our not-so-friendlies or simply enriching their own coffers!

(But then again, they really ARE stupid!)

I predicted this to my sister right after the midterms.

I'm now sitting back and watching the bloodbath.

What many seem to forget is that the MAGAts are a tiny minority that have used social media to amplify their voices.

The asshole wing is also the stupid wing of the Republican party. So, they'll be unable to modify their behavior.

This is going to be a long two years, but when 2024 is approaching it will be obvious that the Republican Party is now a shell of what it was.

It may undergo drastic changes. It may attempt to get rid of bigots but the two party system is alive and well. BOTH parties are very invested in keeping it this way. Since bigots are not welcome in the Democratic party and they know that then the bigots will remain in the republican party.

I can't stress this enough. A third, fourth and fifth party are just not going to happen. The campaign spoils and powers of governance will not be split up beyond two parties. Personally, I think the country and news cycle would be greatly benefited by five parties. For many reasons not the list is a majority would need to compromise among differing parties to get stuff done and the minority could not just block stuff b/c one party alone would not have enough power. 'Nuff said.
