Weeks ago it became clear that Santos is a sick person. A pathological liar in the true sense of pathology. The news reports have come to be plain old voyeurism. Enough.

(53,214 posts)This story shouldn't be buried or left to die. Meanwhile, new lies surface every day. Santos and the republican party that has spawned and condoned him should be held accountable.

(7,988 posts)...they used to tie the dead chicken around the dog's neck to remind him why it's not advisable to kill chickens.
Santos is the GOP's dead chicken.

(17,552 posts)that would be another time that we 'accepted' something that is totally wrong. The man is a liar, a fraud, and to allow him to be a member of the U.S. government IS NOT RIGHT!

(6,830 posts)Regardless of how one may feel about the matter on a personal level, I believe his antics, actions and words have warranted the current level of inquiry and inspection he's experiencing.

(113,962 posts)While I'm tired of hearing about him too, it only underscores the degenerate state of Congressional Republicans--and they are hearing about it from the public too. He is their albatross around the neck and they are stuck wearing it.

Heartfelt arguments are presented by both camps.
Id much prefer we spent more time discussing how our political leaders of today can better address todays pressing issues.

(60,185 posts)There will be more like Santos (or whatever his name really is) until it is made clear that a line has been overstepped, and the country cannot accept such a person in its parliamentary governing body. There are others to which this applies as well, but "Santos" was specified, so I refer to him here.

Then the story can die.

(23,631 posts)If he's a sick person, a pathological liar (who also appears to have committed actual crimes with his campaign finance reporting), then he should resign.
If he doesn't, then he should have a bright spotlight shone upon him and his activities. He shouldn't just be ignored.

(49,384 posts)While every press cycle burns time on this fraud, the rest of the GOP is left in peace to plot the worst things imaginable. At this point, he's more of an asset than a liability.

(9,990 posts)...let Santos continue to be counted within that select circle of "bona fide" GOP poster kids. A toxic political party is made up of toxic individuals along with their words and actions. Santos may indeed be a sicko, and McCarthy may well recognize that, but short of removing him he remains the GOP's sicko. Given what's known about him, the next step should be to revoke his membership in Congress. And at this time I don't see that happening.

Then there are the complaints of Democrats being spineless. The Rs would never give up.

(12,533 posts)Perhaps for the press bc the stories write themselves and click-bait is the name of the game.. But for me, George Santos is a poster boy for the what the GOP has willingly become: serial liars, grifters, zero-sum political players, performance artists, in some cases criminals.
George Santos is a reminder of all that, a living, flapping albatross hanging around Republican necks (and we're looking at you, Elise Stefanik).
Eventually, the stories will die down. Santos will either be pushed out or be normalized by the press. Think Donald Trump.
But until then, I'm quite happy with the continuous, ridiculous wriggling that Santos is doing, McCarthy's refusal to remove the man and actually lead the House and the overall silence within the GOP. It marks them and the Republican Party in real time for what they are: thoroughly corrupted with not the slightest interest in serving the American public beyond the Maga/Q community whose primary objective is burning the house down.

(67,101 posts)He is a public officeholder who is clearly unfit to serve.
Anthony Devolder aka Anthony Zabrovski aka Adreas dos Santos aka George Santos is implicated in several financial scams.
Where his campaign finances came from remains a mystery. The on-the-record false statements about it are crimes. His scheme to con big money donors through impersonation may also be a crime.
This grifter now also serves on the House Small Business committe.
TFG is also a pathological liar. People like him don't belong anywhere near positions of trust or power.
