OP
r u referring to where he says he is "confident" he can provide a "safe" learning environment?

Just as with the 2nd Amendment, discarding the 1st part results in misinterpreting the whole.

You turned his explanation for his requirements and his goal into a "promise".

(34,214 posts)2. He makes a promise he can't keep. He should review the ethics on that.
All those precautions reduce the chances of contracting COVID, but do not eliminate the possibility.

i've looked it over several times and don't see the promise you're insisting he is breaking

(34,214 posts)4. No one gets COVID on his watch is how he finishes

(3,944 posts)5. And you find that ethically subpar?
A person might almost think you had an agenda.

(34,214 posts)6. its a promise he cant keep.
He could have said, "I want to reduce the chances of you catching COVID on my watch."

(36,919 posts)7. omg! sorry he can't be up to your standards (can anyone??)
this is the best description i've seen since we began lockdown march 13th 2020!
and with all the unmasking, all the bullshit of sitting beside others and no social distancing, wearing proper masks (instead of stupid surgical & gators), a reminder to stay the fuck home when you're sick or living with someone who is sick... and you take issue with this???
if all his rules are followed, how will someone catch covid in his class?
give me a fucking break!
SYFROYH
(34,214 posts)8. Normally I wouldn't care, but he's throwing around science and ethics.
It's really his standards that he isn't meeting. Not mine.

(36,631 posts)10. That is not a quote.
SYFROYH
(34,214 posts)11. Correct. That's why there aren't quotation marks.
Folks can read the OP for the full context, but here is the full quote.
"As a licensed psychologist, I have a moral and ethical obligation to do better (see Section 3.04 of the APA Ethics Code), so you will not be getting COVID on my watch." Emphasis mine.
