13. As long as McCarthy is in the race, he has enough votes to block anyone else

Right now it's a Mexican standoff. Question is who will blink first. I would not bet on this just yet but it does seem that if McCarthy gets pissed off enough at the radicals in his own party he might throw in with the Dems and ask what they want in exchange for getting behind him. After all, it's not like the dude actually has any principles...

That would be a voter loser for any democrat.

At this point breaking the logjam is going to require someone to give up something to make a compromise. If McCarthy were to offer enough goodies, bennies, and positive rule changes, I imagine a few Dems would be willing to make a deal with him, but you're right it would cost them in other ways. And McCarthy would have to be really pissed at his own people to do enough of a 360 to offer Dems enough of what they want to make the offer attractive. At this point, though, nothing seems possible, and something will eventually happen so whatever that is is likely to be seemingly very unlikely once it unfolds.

I still think Pence has a chance. Former House member. Anyone with a commitment to fairness, bipartisanship, tradition, House rules would get a hearing at this point.

I think Scalise is the only other possibility, and that’s slim.

They’re going to have to stew in their karmic juices for awhile until enough of the Never Kevin’s figure it out.

And team up with them to either vote for Jeffries or one of the R's. The R's would have to agree to bring legislation to the floor instead of kill it.

I would love to see Greene in the chair. Gatez would be a good second choice, with Boebert rounds out my trifecta.
Put these people in front of the camera, full time for two years, and maybe people would wake the hell up.
