And just like that - the journalists are unsuspended from Twitter.

Musk announced that the people have spoken, and all those suspended for tweeting his exact location (even though none of them actually did that) are now unsuspended.

He lost two polls in a row the second, a 24-hour poll pitting unsuspend NOW against unsuspend in 7 days. (58.7 to 41.3)

The fact that he did this at all means that journalists shouldn't be crying to be let back on to twitter, they should be leaving it en masse.

But at least one is already back (in less than an hour after being unsuspended).

At a minimum, I'd figure out how to capture all of my content from the site - since you know it's only time until he throws a hissy fit again.

My guess is he didn't expect the poll results . . . but he'd boxed himself in by narrowing the options to two. Doing the math on the first poll, 7 days should have won and I'm sure he was counting on it.

I certainly wouldn't trust him not to ban on a whim again, in the near future.

Off to other locations. Many established new homes immediately - but will they stick to them more that the does in their old home is say least temporarily unlocked?

But you're right, if course. Actions like the journalist ban have a chilling effect on important speech.

Musk is still running with the bullshit claim that Mastodon is "potentially harmful". He's just pissed off that there's a significant move to Mastodon because of his antics, and, with no concern for "free speech", he wants to use his market power to hurt a smaller rival.

It was reversed, than why. The ban was permanent, initially. Then very quickly turned into a 7-day ban, which he expected to be supported by his airing fans on Twitter, and then vanished when Twitter votes against him.

Yes, there were lots of other things going on - but many of them have been going on since he took over.

This was a bit different, as the world-wife response should indicate.

Twitter had become one off the main ways for journalists to quickly disseminate minute by minute accounts of gay breaking news. So banning journalists is a big deal, in a way that a lot of his other antics haven't been.
