Trump Demands DOJ Return All His Documents

On Friday, Trump made a post on his Truth Social platform calling the "taking of documents" by FBI agents "ILLEGAL."

"Under the Presidential Records Act and the very well established Clinton Socks Case, the raid of Mar-a-Lago by the FBI, and the taking of documents and many other items, was ILLEGAL," Trump said. "Everything should be returned, at once!"

I think this doubling down was a yuuge mistake. A district judge is deciding whether to hold Trump in contempt. This should make his decision easier, and the fine larger.

Nor is it a "well-established case."

Mr Clinton at one point stored some taped records of an interview he had with somebody-or-other in his sock drawer. The RW got wind of the existence of the tapes and "demanded" their release, and it was ruled they were private documents. In Mr Trump's mind, thus, the records he stole and Mr Clinton's private tapes are equatable.

This has nothing to do with common sense or logic or reasoning. It's all got to do with Trumpy-Boy trying his best to keep his worshippers believing his lies. Posture that the government documents are his because he's the supreme authority and future dictator who can demand anything and get it. His authoritarian lemmings will march behind him.

kind of hard to claim you've been wronged when you lost a case and didn't even appeal the 11th circuit ruling.

isn't it kind of standard policy for any decent lawyer to tell a client to, and pardon my french, shut the fuck up? you would think he'd be advised to keep quiet.

...why do people still repeat his propaganda like it's some revelation?

Literally word for word. Who cares what he says on his propaganda site? Even these posts full of concern 'catapult the propaganda,' as Bush succinctly put it. It's baked into the design of these types of posts, intended to generate enough outrage to elevate their nonsense to the point of broader discussion beyond their followers.

There seems to be a glitch in the human brain that is susceptible to the "big lie", as first introduced in Nazi Germany.

At least in the least educated and cognitively developed. If they never actually hear the person they have invested years of their lives in, never say he was in the wrong. And that its all Other's fault and they are all lying about him, somehow these people's minds can be convinced that he is right about everything.

I really think that going forward in America, the most important issue is not Trump, or the SCOTUS or Sinema, or any number of problems, its how to deprogram a huge sector but more importantly, stop disinformation. Unfortunately Musk has just exacerbated it.

Like children testing their parents limitations, Fox News as only one example, has become a purveyor of misinformation disguised as "news". Pushing more and more radical bizarre conspiracies to their "open minded" audiences. Alternative facts have become the norm. You have your facts, and I have mine. This is what will tear apart the country.
