Enlighten me: TAIBBI/Musk and the laptop. I don't have the depth/time.

Wasn't this TAIBBI used-to-be a Lib (I don't keep up).

So. he's now the MUSK partner for the laptop? Whatever.

Former Employees React to Elon Musk’s ‘Twitter Files’ as Snoozefest
Earlier this week, Elon Musk teased the release, tweeting, "The public deserves to know what really happened …"

ELON MUSK RELEASED the anticlimatic “Twitter Files” about “free speech suppression” by the social-media platform on Friday evening. On Monday, he teased the release, writing, “The public deserves to know what really happened …”

What followed after was a series of tweeted snippets detailing what the public has known—and what Twitter executives themselves have detailed over the past two years—about the company’s deliberation surrounding the New York Post’s publication of files from Hunter Biden shortly before the 2020 election.

“What you’re about to read is the first installment in a series, based upon thousands of internal documents obtained by sources at Twitter,” Matt Taibbi, Substack writer and former longtime Rolling Stone writer, darkly intoned Friday evening. But contrary to the melodramatic billing, the files mostly show what’s already been documented: that Twitter removed links to the Post‘s story and files from Hunter Biden’s laptop and struggled with how to react to the surprise revelation of the leak of files from a presidential candidate’s son. ....

Taibbi and Musk’s “Twitter Files” appeared to add little beyond what former executives have said was a confused and bungled response. ....

He’s now in on the anti woke grift. Not to mention he lost a book deal over me too.

What Happened to Matt Taibbi? The former darling of the liberal media is now one of its loudest critics. He says he hasn’t changed.

“I think he’s gone off the rails,” said Doug Henwood, a longtime progressive journalist who once counted himself among Taibbi’s admirers. “Now I just don’t know what the hell he’s going on and on about. He’s obsessed with stupid shit.”

Taibbi’s work at The eXile would come back to haunt him decades later, with the Me Too movement in full swing. Just as Taibbi was preparing to promote his new book on the police killing of Eric Garner, I Can’t Breathe, passages from a 2000 book co-written by Taibbi and Ames on The eXile years resurfaced. Both men, especially Ames, trafficked in twisted satire. Passages written by Ames described purported sexual harassment at The eXile and portrayed Ames as having sex with a 15-year-old girl, coercing a woman into having an abortion, and raping other Russian women. Both men insisted none of it was true, but accusations of misogyny spread across the internet.

In 2017, as the firestorm built, Kathy Lally of the Washington Post wrote that she and other female journalists who served as correspondents in Moscow were subject to boorish writings and pranks from Taibbi. “The eXile’s distinguishing feature, more than anything else, was its blinding sexism — which often targeted me.” (Lally declined to comment for this story.)

Taibbi offered a lengthy Facebook apology in wake of the controversy while denying he sexually harassed anyone. “As a young man, I wrote and said some very dumb and hurtful things,” he wrote. “But it was never more than that. I know the list of revealed harassers is growing, but I am not on that list, nor should I be. I belong to a much bigger group. I was young once, and a jerk. And I am sorry for that.”

Dems and Republicans had the ability to work the ref at Twitter, and Dems had more friends. Yawn.

Ro Khanna (great Dem) argued for the Bill of Rights. Great.

Other than that, I didn't get a lot out of it. The laptop story had to be given proper scrutiny, and it was. The complaints from the right are justified, but only in hindsight. If you were in your tent camping and a three-inch spider crawled onto your leg, you might smack it first and identify its species later.

Who got banned from social media for praising a violent terrorist. Who then went on Hannity (obviously) to complain because he got caught. And these morons wonder why we are currently laughing at them.

He said the system to complain was not fair, and acted like anyone who leaned left, would only make moderation decisions that favored their political leanings.

He showed political donations by dollar amount and party that, I suppose, was from the twitter universe.
That data implied that virtually everyone that was working at twitter leaned left.

However, he did say that, in 2020, requests from the Trump White House were received and honored.
