What on earth is going on? He's talking about working with Democrats to pass legislation that most Democrats would agree with. Is he vying for the Speakership?
"If someone is a member of Congress, they should be prohibited from lobbying for life."
"You are either in the law-making game or you're in the influence peddling game."
"I'll also introduce an amendment to have a ban on members of congress trading individual stocks."
There is more in the video.

(53,214 posts)I can't imagine what happened to cause such a dramatic change so quickly, though I'm sure he probably wants to speaker some day. He is even distancing himself from his good buddy Margie. Maybe he got a real political adviser?

(53,214 posts)but if he works with Democrats to get legislation passed, I'm not going to complain. Maybe he knows something that we don't.

(19,373 posts)isn't it? Those rules would make being a member of Congress less desirable for these greedy fucks.

It would be pretty hard to trust Gaetz after all the stunts he's pulled in the past few years. Meanwhile, if he helps to pass some decent legislation, I'll give him credit for that, but I'll never completely trust him.

(3,748 posts)So Ill believe it when I see it. But I could not trust him either.

(53,214 posts)as I'm sure that whatever he does, he has an ulterior motive, one which will benefit him first and foremost. A handful of people really have transformative moments in their lives when they do honestly change for the better, but I seriously doubt Gaetz is one of those people.
However, I do think it is possible that the frat boy may have grown up a bit and hopefully has put his childish stunts behind him.
