Tudor Dixon, the Republican nominee for governor of Michigan, claimed in remarks she made in 2020 that Democrats want to topple the United States for losing the Civil War.
Dixon, who is a former news anchor, made the comments in a monologue on Real Americas Voice News, a right-wing streaming news platform. She said Democrats were planning to topple the country for decades
Why wouldnt that come from the party that lost the Civil War? The party that wanted to own people because they viewed them as less than human? Do you think that the Democrats are over losing to the north? Dixon said.
Her remarks were first unearthed and reported by CNNs KFile, its investigative team.

If you'd been paying attention Ms "Shit for brains" you'd know that the old Democrats AKA Dixiecrats became Republicans when Nixon did his whole "southern strategy" in 1972. Hence why you hear so many Republicans advocating violence these days.

(5,410 posts)what these people like to ignore is the whole Northern wing of the Democratic party at that time-- who were not totally "down with" the extension of slavery into the territories, or for secession... whatever faults they might have had.
The General who stood at the center of the Union line at Gettysburg, and fought off Pickett's charge, Gen. Winfield Scott Hancock, was a Democrat, as were many other Union generals, not to mention the rank-and-file...
Still, in 2022 I am a liberal Democrat from Michigan. I am confident that had I been alive in 1860, I would have been a Lincoln Republican.....
... and all these Republicans who try to tar the Democratic party today with the sin of slavery, would have been southern slaveholding Democrats....
Party is not as revealing as ideology. The southern secessionists were CONSERVATIVES... and the Republicans at that time were liberal, even radical left.
