(9,090 posts)x 60 stations x 15 hrs/day x 5 days = $4.5M/week all FREE and pro desantis all anti christ, choice, demmings, LGBT, all global warming denying, and so on.
desantis is a well known dittohead, a limbaugh student and acolyte, and those zingers were probably just the usual rw radio talking points
and 20 of those stations would probably lose half their advertisers if the 5 universities that endorse them with sports broadcasting would reread their mission statements.
from fakenewsradio.org Florida 10, Florida St. 4 Miami 2, South Florida 2, Central Florida 2
desantis wouldn't have had a chance the first time and the only reason republicans have any chance in 90% of the elections after what they've done is dem leadership ignorance of rw radio. it's absurd

In It to Win It
(12,651 posts)ty to attack his false stance on parents rights here.
DeSantis said it's not legal for a teenager to get a tattoo, and I felt like that was an opportunity to claim the parents rights issue. "Of course Ron, that's why these children have parents who consult with healthcare providers and I support parents making this decision for their families rather than the DeSantis administration" or something similar.
kelly1mm
(5,756 posts)analogy would work. If a minor cannot get a tattoo even with parental permission then the analogy would support DeSantis' position, at least from a strictly rhetorical look at the statements.

(12,651 posts)Under 16, no tattoos no matter what, even with parental consent. Between 16 and 18 requires consent but I don't remember if DeSantis stated an age.
If DeSantis did mentioned an age, then i agree with your earlier post.
kelly1mm
(5,756 posts)at least, at least rhetorically. Plus it would be hard to argue (as least in soundbites) why a 15 year old cannot get a tattoo with parental permission but could get a mastectomy/castration. It is a very hard issue for politicians even in blue states when you get into the weeds....
In It to Win It
(12,651 posts)You can't talk about the issue without getting into weeds of exemptions. Tattoos for the under 16 crowd have medical exemptions in Florida, but to analogize that to gender affirming care for the under 16 crowd would be a little too "weedsy" for the debate stage.
DeSantis has the easier job to say person at 'X' age wouldn't even be allowed to get a tattoo so we should allow them (insert gender affirming procedure here)... blah blah blah... and DeSantis would mention a more surgically invasive procedure to make it sound more unreasonable.
It's hard to Crist to respond directly to a tattoo analogy without getting into the weeds a little of medical exemptions for tattoos, which would apt in a response about gender affirming care. However, I'm not sure how that would look with some "on the fence" voters.
kelly1mm
(5,756 posts)this way more than I do, what would be a medical exemption for a tattoo for someone under 16? Just curious?
In It to Win It
(12,651 posts)Tattoos for minors under 15 allowed for medical purposes but I couldn't think of a single medical reason for a tattoo. LOL

(10,969 posts)After an entire summer of wide media coverage of the Don't Say Gay law, our party's candidate for governor doesn't have a good response to DeSantis?
I feel like just about any other Democratic candidate could've managed LGBT issues better than Crist just did. If I were a gay Floridian instead of a gay Californian, I'd be a little insulted by the absolute weakness to defend our community. It was borderline embarrassing that what should have been a slam dunk for any Democratic candidate was a limp non-answer generalization about being nice people.
If DeSantis runs in 2024, we need a hell of a lot better than that.

(9,238 posts)Did u forget?
Sympthsical
(10,969 posts)There's always an excuse for why the LGBT community gets thrown under the bus out of perceived political necessity.
However, did you forget it's 2022 and not 2004?
We don't put up with this shit anymore. If you're ok with that sort of thing, that's very nice for you.

(12,651 posts)Unlikely to happen with we have but can be a good talking point for Crist that DeSantis and the GOP legislature never allowed Medicaid expansion so he's left working family with higher medical bills, higher property insurance, and school system losing teachers by the day or something similar

(7,080 posts)because Florida has become SO expensive that only the monied repubs from the north can afford to move here now. That is how my beautiful BLUE Florida (I moved here in 1988) turned the ugliest red now. I am sick about it. But then I did move FROM the seat of LABOR, Wisconsin, which is now a red shithole. We are losing our country.
