Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) currently holds a 4-point lead over Democratic challenger Beto O’Rourke as inflation weighs heavy on voters’ minds ahead of November’s gubernatorial election.

According to a new Marist College poll published Wednesday, 49 percent of registered voters said they’ll support Abbott in the upcoming gubernatorial election, while 45 percent back O’Rourke.

Among those likely to vote in the gubernatorial election, 52 percent of respondents said they’ll support Abbot, while 44 percent offered their support for O’Rourke.

5. Abbott won't fix inflation. The GOP corporate donors will just stop it if Abbott is elected.

That's what they believe and that is what the corporate greeds will do but we can still get our people out to vote for all the other stuff that Abbott is against.

It's more in line with the 8 points of likely voters in that Marist poll.

7. i just got a text from the Democratic Victory PAC that NYT reports Beto is within 2 points

striking distance from Abbott. I can't seem to find it searching for NYT or any source mentioning that. Does anyone have a link?

BTW i've seen at least 5 Beto signs in my neighborhood here in Collin Cty, & i know of other houses who are liberal. Woohoo!!

10. Here me out: Beto needs to say something conservative

He should hold his nose and move to the right for just two weeks. Texas is quite Red, and whether we like to admit it or not, it won't elect someone that's liberal on every major issue. Maybe he really could turn 5% and tip the election.

Now, what should he do to move to the right? Maybe property taxes, or something tough on immigration that we may not like.

11. The registered voter numbers are pretty good.

By comparison, in the 2020 election, it was 52-46 R over D.

Most of the pundit ratings say that Dems will have to win most of the "toss up" House seats to keep the majority. Numbers like this are more encouraging than some others I've seen. Here's hoping.
