Will there be any political consequences if no one is indicted for attempted overturn of election?

Or for obstructing a legal proceeding of Congress?

Will the Republican Party gain voters? Or will the Democratic Party lose voters? Or vice-versa?

Will the Independents continue to expand?

Or will everything mostly return to the status quo?

If the DOJ fails to act, will the voters hold their political leaders accountable?

What do you foresee as the political consequences of this investigation?

I see about 150 charged with obstruction of an official proceeding on the current list.

That no one knows or cares about. And most have just plead to misdemeanors and given minor sentences.

waiting, it seems like forever, for justice to be over and done with. It just drags on and on. Hell, if someone shoplifts an item from the damn store, then WHAM BAM BOOM, you are charged w/ a crime and in jail the same day if you're caught.

Why not here? Why the damn disconnects between their crimes and the normal crime in the everyday world? It seems like these politicians are getting damn breaks after breaks after breaks. It's unfair to the vast majority of others that their being subject to the system of justice is so fast, while others, it's slow and barely creeping along. This two-tier system of justice is unfair.

I have come to accept that it will take time for the justice system to work and if it is politicized, it will not work at all. That is the danger to our democracy, in my opinion. That one Party will look at the law as a political exercise, and in so doing, will destroy the people's faith in democracy.

If one Party is so involved in a criminal act to overturn an election, then it is difficult to see how the Justice system can operate as it was meant to do.

I don't know that the political consequences can be predicted?

because we may not have enough evidence to prove sedition in court? knowing is one thing and proving is another. I tell you what unless you want to live in a fascist hell hole better hope the days of not voting, message voting and I want a unicorn now voting! are behind us. Priorities people...getting enough votes in the Senate and House needed to stop the GOP assault on women, minorities LGBTQ and others are essential in order to save our Republic.

in the rule of law and accountability. Additionally, most Americans don’t understand how the inner workings of DC functions, and thereby have a misguided view of what’s right or wrong.

The public at large, both Democrats and Republicans, need to believe that bad needs to be punished. Unfortunately we don’t have that scenario at present. We need to make examples of those who wanted to overthrow our government. That in itself will give us confidence in our leadership in DC and assure that those who commit serious crimes will be held accountable.

It will decrease votes for Democrats across the board. To think otherwise is foolish.

And there are lots of good people on the margin of the Democratic Party/ Democratic Left to consider. When they vote, for example President Obama earned their support, as did President Biden, we win. When they sit it out, we lose. No matter if one thinks the DOJ is doing what is possible and the left has high expectations, the reality is that this is a political as well as law enforcement issue.

It is not a tight-knit club, as some would hope. Much of politics is psychological. It is not a simple game of "my team against your team".

My father used to point out that only republicans could be counted on to vote for their party's candidate, no matter what. Democrats are not like that ..... which is a good thing, sometimes better than others.

...unless someone has evidence to suggest otherwise.

"We begin with the cases that are right in front of us with the overt actions and then we build from there," Garland said. "And that is a process that we will continue to build until we hold everyone accountable who committed criminal acts with respect to Jan. 6."

However, it is going to take some time to complete this investigation.

Also, the Republicans will obstruct it every step of the way. There is a time constraint involved. If the Repubs win the mid-terms and the White House in '24, then it could be a different ballgame.

I have hope that the DOJ will do its job thoroughly.

People are going to be indicted. It's just a matter of time.

This was an attempted over throw of the United States of America. People died and members of congress had to run for their lives.

People are going down.

Yes there will be political consequences, for politicians who tried to end our democracy.
