Its not just the guns, its the gun culture.
A morally responsible gun owner would be horrified by these shootings and eager to make good suggestions about how to keep guns out of the hands of crazy people. And that describes some gun owners.
But when you hear that people are running out to buy more guns - it just intensifies the problem. As if 400 million guns were not enough.
Guns are the solution to everything that ails these gun worshippers. They are holy icons of a death cult.

(620 posts)I dont think any law on the books or passed will stop them. There are so many guns and other ways to do damage to defenseless people. You think guns in a closed in place is bad, imagine what a propane tank from the corner store and a road flare could do.
Licensing, training etc is a nice thought, but lets be honest if someone wants to do something bad a bunch of extra steps wont stop them. Breaking one more law wont stop them.
I dont know the answer, and no one here does either. As people who are willing to kill someone ( or many ) is breaking the law by killing someone, going a cross a gun free zone sign is no big deal. Buying an illegal gun would be no big deal. Look at the gun crime in the UK, there is not much but its a country that is an island, with strict gun laws and still happens.
but it does not mean we should do nothing.
