America Has a Theocracy Now -- It's Called the Supreme Court

https://eand.co/america-has-a-theocracy-now-its-called-the-supreme-court-7ddfb4ba165d

The only way, and the correct way, to put what happened in America last night is exactly as simple and deadly as it appears. America now has a theocracy. It’s called the Supreme Court.

Women last night in America lost the most fundamental of rights. Of bodily autonomy. And, as we’ll discuss, all the rights that devolve from that one — expression, speech, privacy, assocation. In a modern society, bodily autonomy is the bedrock, the mother of all rights. When it goes, everything does. But I’m getting ahead of myself.

I have a little bit of experience with theocracy. I grew up, depending on how you count it, in one, two, three societies which collapsed into theocracy before my very eyes. Let me assure that this is the real thing. Why do I say that?

What really happened last night? A Supreme Court was appointed in the majority by Presidents who didn’t win the popular vote, rejected by the parts of Congress representing the majority of people, and took office anyways. And they eliminated the bodily autonomy of every woman in society, for religious reasons.

What we have now is a politicized group of religious zealots and out right hacks.

Our entire system is broken beyond repair.
2016 election
2020 election

SCOTUS packed by GOP
Senate hopelessly feeble
House chaotic as ever (and all-time low for IQ)

No one can get a Senate vote on ANYTHING (if you're a Democrat that is...Republicans got their SCOTUS without losing much fucking sleep now didn't they?)

This gerry-mandered, non-representative former republic is circling the drain. I just hope the wars to come claim more conservative lives than progressives. Anyone doubting that war and a split of the continent are coming is simply Pollyanna at this point. Keep on believing and hoping in one hand and allow the Republicans to shit in your other...I already KNOW which will have more in it at the end...

When Republicans got away with stealing that election, the rest of the story was written. Democrats didn’t take to the streets and raise holy hell. We have been realizing the consequences ever since.
