Texas Governor May Declare Invasion
May 2, 2022 at 7:53 am EDT By Taegan Goddard 6 Comments
To do this, Abbott could declare the migrant crisis an invasion in accordance with an article in the US Constitution which says that individual states cannot engage in war unless they are actually invaded.

(12,661 posts)Are they armed invaders? No, just another staged event probably for the news talkers.

(11,142 posts)I cannot wait to see Abbot's face when federal troops roll in to explain how they are not to be trifled with. Especially when Abbot insanely orders his state officers to attack them... and that loon will try it, I bet you! I know that the idiot has delusions of 1864, but it is past time to put him in his place. Or at least a holding cell.

(5,068 posts)Maybe Biden should pull the BP off the TX border and tell Abbott to have at it if he is so eager to take over. Would be interesting to see Abbott's reaction to that.

2. There is no invasion. There is no mass breakthrough at the Southern Border.

(15,398 posts)Corpus Christi is screwed, so are all the manufacturing businesses Texas has been trying to lure that need parts made in Mexico.
The Mexican government basically indicated they don't want to deal with a fickle, racist state where the Governor does things for personal political reasons, after the truck inspection stunt Abbott pulled.
New Mexico is going to benefit from Abbott's fu**wittery.

(24,957 posts)is demeaning to the people of Ukraine, who are dealing with a real life-and-death *actual* invasion. Tucker Carlson and other nativists have been talking about the 'border crisis" as though it is an invasion, which is disgusting.

(72,187 posts)Strange. Polls have lately been showing an uptick in support by the Hispanic community toward the GOP. Is this really going to bolster that support, I wonder?

(476 posts)This is gonna be big prob for dems. Voter suppression blocking black votes, a few more hispanics turning to rethugs, plus saw poll where rethugs are enjoying 15% swing against child tax credit.

Ignorance makes them not realize it was easier to come here legally many years ago than it is now. In some states, their ancestors were there before they even joined the USA. Or, as they say in parts of California, "We didn't cross the border, it crossed us."
