January 6 panel receives Trump lawyer emails about plan to block Biden victory

The House select committee investigating the January 6 insurrection at the US Capitol has received a cache of emails belonging to Donald Trump’s lawyer, John Eastman, federal court documents filed on Tuesday show.

The 101 emails were released to the committee after Judge David Carter ruled in federal court in California last week that Eastman, a hard-right supporter of the former US president, had not made a sufficient claim to attorney-client privilege.

The cache of documents, sent between 4 and 7 January 2021, contains extensive communications between Eastman and others about plans to obstruct the certification of Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 presidential election.

These included proposed efforts to push Trump’s former vice-president, Mike Pence, to reject or delay counting electoral college votes and weaponizing false allegations of voter fraud in numerous state lawsuits.

Justice is up to DOJ; I am not optimistic that will happen.

8. while the J6 committee is tasked who/what/where/why of the January 6

the DOJ is tasked with criminal and civil prosecutions...that includes, but not limited to, hate crimes/human trafficking/terrorism (domestic and foreign)/gun violence/voting violations ..

I know a day without Garland-bashing is like a day without sunshine, and a day without a Trump indictment is a a wasted day, but let's put the J6 committee in perspective..the J6 committee, while incredibly forthcoming..they've conducted hundreds of interviews, issued subpoenas, teased and tantalized us, but have yet to hold hearings..how nice that Jared/Ivanka met with the committee but I want to know what the committee knows...it's time...and I suspect Garland isn't going to show his hand until the committee shows theirs...

Thousands of pages & its all leading to one big indictment of a well planned overthrow of our most sacred held US Govt.
Our Constitution, our Legislative & Executive bodies, our Supreme Court, our Civil & Voting Rights.
They would have had us be Russia under Vladimer Putin's strict regime.
It would have been accomplished swiftly & with no objection.

Keep digging till every one of the conspirators is named.

to build solid, unbreakable, case that can win in various forums.

Many investigators are working very hard, for a long time.

We know it was a crime but it has to be proven.

the 1/6 committee is not going to be prosecuting anybody, rather they will be writing a report. It is up to the DOJ to prove things in a courtroom.

What is most important is for the 1/6 congressional committee report to be completed and made public before the mid-term elections. If the republicans taken over the House they will dissolve that committee on day one of the next session of Congress. Th DOJ will live on to prosecute people at least until January 20th 2025.

Apart from public deadlines, I think think investigators of all kinds do share leads and information.

A number of reports have been issued. More coming. All this matters in the courts of public opinion - which are important.

We can be sure that the Congress is aware of the midterm elections, and its possible implications.

The news against the trump interests seems to get better by the week.

We can hope.
