So, judging by how political criminals are let off the hook,

Can I assume we are now free to just break any law we want? Skip paying our taxes? Cheat? Lie with impunity? Try to overthrow the government? Collude?

Asking for a friend....

Being tongue in cheek, of course... but, c'mon! It's gotten ridiculous!!!

2. Well, first you have to amass a great deal of financial and political power...

then you can break the law with relative impunity.

Just remember not to steal from other wealthy people. You can hurt the little people as much as you want.

The IRS typically goes after those of us who may be behind on taxes, or maybe forgot to file a specific form, because it is a lot easier to get money back from us than from the wealthy. The wealthy have attorneys who will stretch out the process of getting any money back for so long, and will demand so many staff hours, that the IRS doesn't see the value in going after someone who is a multi-millionaire or billionaire and owes millions in taxes versus going after 100,000 people who owe maybe $1,000 to $10,000 in taxes. They have a much higher likelihood of getting $100,000,000.000 that way than getting it from 2 or 3 billionaires who owe that much.

When people say that "Justice is blind", I laugh. The fact that someone with a lot of resources, can hire an attorney to represent them who practices out of a private firm that specializes, that has multiple attorneys and other support staff who can put staff hours into your particular case, or even function as "Staff" within your own organization, while other people who cannot afford to hire an attorney, get public defenders who while likely smart and dedicated, have to handle a couple hundred cases each with limited time and support staff; that tells me that justice is NOT blind, that it is a commodity just like a new television. If you have money, you can get a great outcome, if you don't, you take your chances.

5. I'm curious about that too. Seems pretty easy to cheat taxes etc.

Just lie. They'll never know your true intent. Never realized intent was so hard to prove when the paper proves it. You don't accidentally devalue or over-value properties. These laws are written specifically so they'll never be enforced against the ultra wealthy or connected. The rest of us better toe the line though!

If TFG and all of those involved with him continue to skirt the law more people will give up on the rule of law and say fuck it.
