(5,058 posts)People already formed their opinions on TFG and it's mostly bad that got him to lose in 2020. Those swing/independent voters aren't going to say "lets give this person a chance" like they would if GoP nominate a new face.

(10,599 posts)They keep trying to, and although they keep failing, there are NO CONSEQUENCES OR PUNISHMENTS for them having tried, so you can be 100% certain they'll try again, something different this time.

(5,058 posts)Weakest nominee doesn't mean he has no chance to win. He was close last time so it's very possible he could win in 2024. I am just saying that he is the weakest among the GoP because people already have a strong opinion formed for him. The "lets trying something new" excuse that the swing/independent voters normally use doesn't work with Trump as their nominee while other new faces would.
As far as the rigging, I can't worry about too much about it because there isn't a thing I can do about it personally. I rather stand strong for our nominee and present our side with all the goods we do and worry less about their bad behaviors. I basically expect them to rig the election but we have to overcome it by getting more voters out to vote for democrats.
Justice matters.

Metaphorical
(2,634 posts)I'm coming to see the MAGAt's as almost being an altogether different party. They increasingly distrust the non-MAGAt Republicans as much as they do Democrats, and I think this is going to pose a real problem for the Republicans in November 2022, especially given the split along largely MAGAt lines wrt Putin. You're going to see GOP vs GQP in the primaries, and if the GQP candidate does not win in the primaries, I suspect the MAGAts will stay home in the general election. Similarly, I think the ability of the Republicans to carve off the Independents will face the same conundrum.

(5,058 posts)Though, I've seen similar dynamic before (2016 with Trump winning the nomination) that supposedly principled republicans will not vote for Trump but they all unsurprisingly held their noses and voted for Trump, worked with Trump during the Trump era, etc. I am unfortunately not going to bet that they will stay home. Their hatred of us will be enough to unite them to go vote.

They are going all out this time, and coming at Biden and Dems with every thing they've got, from every direction.
Maybe someone can point out to me all the things the Dems are doing to confront this Red Tsunami..........?????

(5,058 posts)You can be sure that third party will draw a lot from GoP and almost none from our side giving 2024 a guaranteed win for us.
But I am still skeptical about GoP nominating anyone but TFG at this point.

(26,025 posts)is that good for us? It would make him the nominee again.
Claustrum
(5,058 posts)I prefer not to have to endure that again because I know how stupid some Americans can be. So I would much rather someone else getting the republican nomination. But then, in today's GoP, they are all just as bad as TFG anyways.

(26,025 posts)MAGAts and establishment Rs, with each putting up their own candidate.
Claustrum
(5,058 posts)But I don't see where the "establishments" are in the current GoP. They are mostly out of power or left the party. The so-called moderate/establishments candidates (Liz Channey, Adam Kinssinger) seems to hold no say or power within the current GoP and have no chance of winning the nomination or even becoming a remote threat to TFG at this point.

(54,414 posts)Many of those other Senators too. They are just gutless ATM, but if they think they can still win AND also pull a Caesar, they will do it in a heartbeat. The ones I am talking about are pure snakes. The QMAGAt ones like Cruz, Hawley, etc (including some new ones from 2022, dog forbid) are the ultra koolaid drinkers who just might stay and fight so hard they may go down with the SS Shithole into its orange maelstrom.
