Russian Brigade Ambushed, if true it's huge

From my research, a Russian brigade can be 2-3000 troops. It doesn't mean they have all been neutralized, but the Brigade is no longer able to function. These would be airborne troops that took part in the battles for Hostomel Airport.

If anyone can find confirmation, by all means, please post!!

... fight with them is over due to their tightly coupled command structure.

Just a question of who is the ranking officer.

50 men dead out of 2-3,000 - that’s just a couple of platoons. That unit should still be combat effective.

but the Russian army seems very top down given its generals were sent to the front lines to get the ground troops moving. If the front line ground troops are poorly trained conscripts, it would be unlikely they'd have the ability to improvise or strategize on the fly.

Officers in the United States and many other western militaries are encouraged to delegate tasks to warrant officers and NCOs (non-commissioned officers such as Corporals and Sergeants) and to develop them to be well rounded leaders. Russian doctrine is for NCOs and warrant officers to specialize their training in their field of work and are granted very little leadership authority.
