(20,591 posts)I've taken Methadone for almost 20 years now for back pain after a botched spinal fusion. New York State passed a law that anyone taking opioids must also have Narcan immediately available to them.
Thing is, I live alone (by choice) and if I overdosed there'd be no one to administer the Narcan. But......I have to have it, so if anyone else should need it....there it is.
Pain and Symptom Management makes everyone prescribed opiates jump through so many hoops now it's ridiculous. The junkies on the streets still get theirs with no problems whatsoever, and they're the people overdosing, so I'm glad they have us so tightly controlled.
