(179,011 posts)I've got this.
House prices in Hinsdale run from the upper six figures to well over a million. He's being an asshole.

(34,917 posts)A number of local pro sports figures live or have lived there, as well, among other higher income earners. Nine bucks is probably chump change for that guy.
I have no doubt Chipotle jacked up their prices there, because it's Hindsdale, and not Bellwood or Maywood.

(20,769 posts)I wish it could change, so that folks really thought about what they eat.
Unfortunately it wont. An impoverished person is looking for bang for their buck. Warmth, satisfaction, full belly. Nutrition comes last. I am offended when bottles of wine sell for $500 or more.
I'm offended when 'exclusive' steakhouses cover their eye fillets with gold leaf.
I'm doubly offended when a chain food producer or restaurant pays it's employees a pittance. All in the name of keeping prices down and becoming a sector magnate.
It fucking stinks. Right now, I won't cast a blanket aspersion on GMO. It has its place. It can do good. Those who insisist on NO gmo are possibly as blinded as anti-vaxxers.
Sorry buddy, didn't intend to rant:

(32,989 posts)I did not like their food, either.
Also, they had a e. coli outbreak, in 2016, I believe. I had e.coli some years ago. It is life threatening and miserable.
I think they had the outbreak because they do all the food prep away from the individual restaurants. They send the cut and prepared ingredients along to the restaurants. Too many hands are touching things. The transportation of the ingredients can cause more hazards to develop.

(19,162 posts)Reminds me of that yuppie couple a few years ago who were whining about not being able to make ends meet on a combined salary of $400,000 or so. It broke my heart.
Wait until he sees what a side of guacamole is going to cost him.

(60,190 posts)This guy lives in an affluent suburb, and goes to a fast food place he goes to, by his own admission, maybe five times a year, and freaks out because a sandwich big enough for two has gone up from $8.50 to $9.00?
This must be one of those guys who will drive 65 miles to another gas station because gas is one cent cheaper per gallon than it is where he lives. Someone should send him to Switzerland, where a medium coffee at Starbucks costs more than his burrito back home. Remind him to pack his heart medicine before he leaves.

He said he was considering taking an Uber to the grocery store because of the price of gas...

(28,493 posts)The first is that their servings are HUGE, triple what a normal person would, or ought to eat.
Second is that they have cilantro in every sauce. Soap chips, for those of us who taste cilantro that way. And please, don't tell me there is only a little cilantro in the sauce. So I will only sprinkle a few soap chips on your food. Oh, wait, there is still soap in the food. Hmmmm.

(28,493 posts)the burrito my meal for three days straight.
A lot of restaurant food, I'm learning, really does not re-heat well. Unlike the things I make, intending to freeze individual portions for later meals.

(34,303 posts)It is also too starchy for me too. Too much rice and beans and not enough veggies. I have never seen tomatoes in any of their burritos.

(102,812 posts)Out here in drive-right-by-it territory, I don't even know if we have those in the state and have never eaten at one. I did get an order of fried rice a couple weeks ago and the price had gone up over a dollar, the lady informed me. I didn't really care, I paid it and was happy with my purchase.
Guy sounds like a cheapskate, bet he doesn't leave a decent tip, if he tips at all. I even tip for take-out.

(16,992 posts)how the market dropped last week? Poor guy is lucky he can afford to eat yet alone eat at Chilpotes.
I made a batch of enchiladas yesterday, 10 of them for under $10.00. I'll give him one for free if he'd stop by.
