(13,003 posts)if his program is successful, the Pharmacology Giants will delay his shipments, screw up orders, lose orders, etc to obliterate his program.....
It is not just the Pill Boys that can and will do this....if an authorized dealer orders and sells a product to another retailer that is not an authorized dealer, or if a company sells an item for less than the suggested manufacturer's retail price, the Manufacturer does these things to them to curtail and control distribution of their product, and protect their profits. I don't see the control the Pharmaceuticals have over drugs as being any different.....
I am sure that the Pharmaceutical companies have such incredible power, evidenced by the fact that in EIGHT LONG YEARS, Obama did nothing to take on the drug companies to negotiate prices for Medicare patients......

(13,003 posts)I just can't understand him sometimes................
#1 after all the outright fraud and corruption in the two previous elections, and the voting fraud centered around the EIS voting machines, I figured one of Obama's first things would be sicing the FEC and FBI on it...........
#2 reports at the time of Obama's first days in office said that 20 days in to his first term, he sat down and told the Pharmaceutical industry that if they backed his Obama Health Care initiative, he wouldn't go after negotiating the prices of drugs for medicare.
I don't know if it''s true or not. But there must be some reason for eight years he didn't challenge the Pharmaceuticals over negotiating medicare prices.
Maybe you have some ideas about what I've said! And thank you for your comment.....
I am a big fan of Obama.
I sure hope this forum doesn't start censoring for constructive criticism or discussions about Dem Politicians..................

(13,003 posts)let's go to current times & events.
The questionable voting machines and voter fraud should be addressed and corrected......
The Dems should go to work on forcing the pharmaceutical to negotiate Medicare Rx prices..........
I guess we will have to wait and see about these matters.
I also feel the need to point out to you that there are countless authors that are still writing books about past presidents and some of those presidents were in office more than five years ago...........

(29,075 posts)when it created Part D under then president George W. Bush." From an article about the Obama administration seeking to negotiate drug prices (that came up when I Googled), but it would have to happen in Congress and Republicans controlled the House for six years. Maybe that had something to do with it.

(67,782 posts)As of last year, one was $2.54 copay per three months, two others were $3.00 each for three months, and the fourth was $20.00 for three months.
On this year's supplemental plan, they premium remained the same ($29 per month each) But we just picked up three of the prescriptions last week - two are now ZERO copay, the other remained $2.54. We'll get the fourth in a week. Curious to see what that winds up being.

(16,269 posts)One the same as my insurance.
One higher than my insurance.
One cheaper by about $5/month than my insurance.
Others I'm taking not on their list.
Not really worth it for me.
But I like it that it might help others.

(67,782 posts)There was one that's roughly $700 per month that can be purchased for about $6. That's an extreme, but it's going to save a lot of people a lot of money.
My two very very low copays wouldn't help me on his program. Our total right now for four prescriptions is under $23 for three months supply, that's less than $2 each per month (average)
The thing about this program is that it wasn't set up to be a profit making business but to help those with very high prescription bills. No doubt overall, with overhead, etc., he'll be losing money. But that's not his motive, he's already worth $5 billion.

(85 posts)Yah, they are definitely pocketing more than 15%. In medicine the price is NOT the cost. Hes definitely pocketing some good change and given the economy of scale he can bring to the contracts, its not insignificantly.
While a good move, it aint single payer.

(15,325 posts)It appears Cuban's capitalism just took a huge bite out of the problem socialists have been selling for 5+ years, yet doing nothing about.
At any time anyone of the legislators could have written a bill. They didn't, so a capitalist stepped in & offered a hell of a cost lowering deal.
And this is just the beginning stage of what he will build upon.
More drug choices, merge his plan into our Health Care thus bypassing the middleman, & along with lower prices delivered to you door.
Honestly, looking at some of those price differences, it is a stunning & shameful.
Take the problem head on & do something about it.
It is way past using this as a political trigger word.
Thank you Mr Cuban & wishing your Costplus business a rapid success for everyone.

(85 posts)If one takes this to its logical conclusion we are talking about market consolidation, which will inevitably lead to price changes increases as market cprice Moe tuition and regulation shrinks.

(54,405 posts)It depends on what happens with the Senate. Right? A big part of me thinks it will be better to have a Republican Senate, believe it or not, because I think the retribution that would come from Schumer to be Mitch McConnells twin would be a negative for the country.

(10,877 posts)my wife has prescription coverage through medicare and we almost never use it. GoodRX everything. it has literally saved us thousands of dollars because the medicare plans pretty much put any modern pricey drug in a high cost sharing tier.

(85 posts)Most private insurance is garbage except that for and by the wealthy or well connected.
And public insurance has been starved systematically until it could be drowned in a bathtub.

(67,782 posts)....people will save a lot of money.
But if this takes off, it probably will affect the prices paid by everyone.
