Ireland : Irish Prime Minister attacks Sinn Fin's 'pro-Putin stance'

I've said the exact same thing here some months ago, I'm just glad that it's now finally been discussed publicly. SF would get us (in Ireland) in the height of shit, like the UK are in by their own making. They know full well that (just like the GOP), they are getting massive Russian cyber help and are complicit in using that for their own benefit.

Taoiseach Micheál Martin has claimed Sinn Féin “will never criticise Russia” and has attacked its “notable silence” over the Putin regime’s build-up of military forces on the Ukrainian border. In a new attack on the main opposition party, Mr Martin questioned why Sinn Féin was never critical of Russia, including over its annexation of Crimea seven years ago. He said he found it “extraordinary” that Mary Lou McDonald’s party had been “absolutely silent on the massive Russian military build-up on the Ukraine [border]” in recent weeks.

His latest comments are likely to draw attention to Sinn Féin’s foreign policy, which have been at odds with Irish positions in recent years.

In 2018, Ms McDonald accused then-taoiseach Leo Varadkar of showing “flagrant disregard for Irish neutrality’’ by expelling a Russian diplomat over the poisoning of a former Russian agent and his daughter in Salisbury, England.

Three years ago, Sinn Féin MEPs voted against a resolution that criticised Russia’s annexation of Crimea and interference in European elections. The same MEPs abstained on a European Parliament resolution in 2015 that condemned human rights abuses in Russia.

“Yet the Sinn Féin contribution last week was three-quarters attacking the EU on vaccines. I thought it was very strange. They spent the entire Dáil debate attacking the European Union, which has the best record, and not just in exporting vaccines around the world.

“Europe has manufactured and exported 1.4 billion vaccines across the world — the largest exporter in the world, way above the US, way above India, way above China and way above Russia — yet the Sinn Féin impulse was to have a go at Europe.”

I think Sinn Fein has been quiet on the Belarus situation when the others political parties have been t making statements about the human rights violations there.

They will do anything to achieve that aim, anything. At the moment there is a housing crisis where young people can't get on the housing ladder, and SF are promising them everything to get their votes. Even though there are many reasons for the crisis, including decades of a lack of social housing investment, social media has been relentless in attacking the current government. The reality is that it's in Russia's interest to destabilise yet another EU member, while SF don't care where the help comes from as long as they get what they want.

Putin and his machine are the antithesis of freedom, civil rights and republicanism. The EU bashing by SinnFein smacks of Putinism and Bannonism. Thank you for your insight.

and discussion. If Sinn Fein has an explanation for their stance in regard to these issues - now would be a great time ...

in the West. Cause maximum chaos.

The Catalan separatists in Spain were also funded and supported by Putin, as were various Yellow Vest factions in France.
