"They" have an "important update" to the iphone Ios that everyone is trying to get me to download and install.
Well I don't know what is in that update so why would I put it into my phone?
It came out way too quickly because apparently there was some kind of emergency dangerous vulnerability.
I even read that they can use it to track everything you do!
Well I have done my own research and I am not going to take it.
Based on what I have read, I should just open one of those random texts and click on the link provided. Lucky me, I have one that will also enhance my penis size!
So you sheeple can do what Apple demands you to do.

(5,181 posts)I saw the sarcasm emoji. I saw an alert on DU yesterday and updated all my devices but for a moment you had me second guessing that decision.

(11,745 posts)With the death of our iMac I am completely over Apple.
My son built us a Manjaro Powered Desktop that rocks and is upgrade-able. He also installed Ubuntu on my old Chromebook that wasn't being upgraded years ago. I switched to a Pixel 5 this past year and love it. Apple charges too much for way too little.

(38,632 posts)at a time, when everyone else panics. They may get too much of my money when I buy my Mac and iPhone, but the quality is good so I can use them longer than average, and if I can make money on stock gains, its all good.

(4,475 posts)We are all using their technology to read and post this very second.
Anyway, those sort of emergency updates with little details were the worst.
You had to get it out to everyone, but the details of the vulnerability also had to be kept secret until most people had the patch.
Those were stressful times.

So excited about the 13 reveal today, because I desperately need a new phone. Mine looks like the painting of Dorian Gray. Hopefully they'll be on sale by the end of the month.

(8,999 posts)Sunday night. I had to go online and unlock my phone and iPad and change the password. The IP address was Canada and I live in Europe so it was scary for a minute. We updated with this patch on Monday.

I updated my OS on all my devices yesterday.

(15,909 posts)I'm trying to recover it now. I'm not sure if it was the new update itself, or the update to Big Sur that started as a first step. By default, the Software Update process never offered an update that patched this vulnerability while sticking to her old OS version.
The laptop I'm on now is running Big Sur, and so is my desktop system. Big Sur hasn't been a problem for me. But my wife was in no hurry to update her system... and unfortunately it locked up during the update, leaving me no choice but to do a forced power down. We waited overnight and a good chunk of today, so it was clearly not going to get unstuck on its own.
