It's always something I look forward to. I guess given the current situation with Covid that excitement can be overlooked given the context of the time.

from the start.

That said, what I've seen thus far is dignified and I have to say I cringe when others here talk about how "lame" they are. What the hell? Never before has anyone had to do this during a pandemic. We'll see if their choice not to postpone (again) or cancel will have horrible repercussions, but I do think they deserve some respect for what they have accomplished under the worst possible setting.

It’s a different time. I realized while watching footage from 2016 in Rio how free it was before the pandemic.

The athletes have trained for years. Simone Biles will be a joy to watch. There will be stories out of the Olympics that no one will anticipate. The event is a product of its time.

Normally I wouldn't care very much, not going to replace it, but I did want to see the Olympics, especially gymnastics.

Of the spectacle of the how rather than the who. That was emotionally the most memorable torch lighting definitely, even more than the flaming arrow. .

I’ll watch no matter what. With Peacock it looks like I can watch whatever I want to. Going to the beach tomorrow so we’ll be at the mercy of the network telecast probably.

The Japanese seem to be making the best of a bad situation.

I was disappointed to hear over 100 of the US athletes are not vaccinated.

back in the 60's to overcome the language barrier. We've become so accustomed to seeing them all over the world, I'd forgotten where they came from!

I thought it was beautiful and unique, and I feel sorry for Japan getting the dirty end of the stick on this one, due to a natural disaster (covid-19). I plan on watching everything I can this next 2+ weeks!
