President Biden and first lady Jill Bidens German shepherd Champ died this week.
The president and first lady said in a statement Saturday that Champ passed away peacefully at home.
He was our constant, cherished companion during the last 13 years and was adored by the entire Biden family, the statement said.
Even as Champs strength waned in his last months, when we came into a room, he would immediately pull himself up, his tail always wagging, and nuzzle us for an ear scratch or a belly rub. Wherever we were, he wanted to be, and everything was instantly better when he was next to us, it added.
The president and first lady said in the statement that the dog loved nothing more than curling up at our feet in front of a fire at the end of the day, joining us as a comforting presence in meetings, or sunning himself in the White House garden.

(64,366 posts)I'll miss her when she leaves us. I know the Bidens will miss Champ, and he had a great life with them.

(8,754 posts)He was on the decline and uncomfortable. That probably affected his behavior.

(31,177 posts)it wasn't Champ who did it. I thought too it might have explained the snapping but I looked it up and found out it was Major who did it.
