A SPECIAL REPORT BY THE INSTITUTE FOR RESEARCH & EDUCATION ON HUMAN RIGHTS AND THE MONTANA HUMAN RIGHTS NETWORKThis is a twelve-part report containing historical & current facts, names, locations and sources about Ammon Bundy's growing on-the-ground white supremacist movement a) under media radar, b) that presents itself as the "next door neighbor," which c) sits parallel to what Figliuzzi and others see in QAnon, as an armed danger to all who support BLM and liberal democracy.
Besides their concepts, ideas and justifications presented here, there are two things I think are important about this org's relative strength and longevity.
1. The concentric ripple effect of this organizing in battlegrounds.
2. Who has paid for Bundy's system, allegedly, and scripts its/his message for on-the-ground naifs.
I'm looking for those meta funding source(s).
Introduction
This report by the Institute for Research and Education on Human Rights and the Montana Human Rights Network explores the breadth and depth of the network built by Bundy and named Peoples Rights. What started in late March with a few dozen supporters in a rural Idaho warehouse has swiftly expanded to a membership base of over twenty thousand across the country.
Relying on field reports, countless hours of video footage, interviews, archival material, and a massive trove of online data, report researchers have captured the first full picture of Ammons army.
Data presented in this report suggests that the rapid growth of the Peoples Rights network has been spurred by a fusion of Bundys core of the far-right paramilitary supporters built up over years of armed standoffs with a mass base of new activists radicalized in protest over COVID-19 health directives.
The leadership of the Peoples Rights network has remained hidden, locked away inside a new online platform away from public scrutiny, until now. Under the Peoples Rights banner, Bundy has assembled a team of 153 assistants in sixteen states. This report, for the first time, names all 153 of those activists and examines their backgroundsincluding extensive far-right activism by many area assistants. Though the national and state leadership is still dominated by men, this report also documents how Peoples Rights has a majority of women in local leadership positionsa first for modern far-right networks.
This report also details how Peoples Rights carved up the country into local areas. It maps the locations of the more than twenty thousand members of the Peoples Rights network. It also dives into the data collected by report researchers on the composition of the online membership base of the twenty-two different Peoples Rights Facebook groups that helped accelerate the spread of the network.
The report digs into the new online platform developed by Peoples Rights, a way to communicate with activists in case of de-platforming by major social networks.
The results of this study contravene many of the myths surrounding the Peoples Rights network. Instead of a more traditional anti-government narrative, Peoples Rights leaders have expressed a desire for governmental power to be used to protect the righteous against wicked liberals, antifa, Black Lives Matter activists, and others.
Several Peoples Rights leaders are running for elected officeto become the government. Absent that sort of intervention, leaders have proposed a type of armed enclave-style neighborhood nationalism, where righteous neighbors stand against the wicked. Peoples Rights leaders have often defined the wicked using far-right conspiracism, racism, antisemitism, anti-indigenous, and anti-transgender sentiment.
Despite the different network branding, this report further highlights how the Peoples Rights network shares many commonalities with far-right paramilitary movements of the past, including the Posse Comitatus and the militia movement.
Throughout the report, the danger of Ammons army becomes evident. Already there have been significant clashes and growing rage. In the context of the pandemic, it puts the lives of community members and public servants at risk, straining democratic institutions, and damaging civil society. We hope this report will serve as an alert to all communities in the path of Ammons army.

(35,176 posts)I saw the movie and for some reason read the book. Of course the book was excellent but it was as hard a read or even harder than the movie was to watch and that was hard enough.
I think you may be right about the Bundys. Too bad we did not take care of the the first time they acted up and the times they shot at our BLM officials from a bridge and elsewhere. Apparently there have been many standoffs and shooting at the BLM and other officials. The the Malheur stand off, I think that was the most recent? Why are they not stopped for this reckless and dangerous, illegal behavior?

(43,307 posts)of national Areas in part 2, the highest concentration is in Idaho, and Bullock and Inslee states bookend the crazy jutland of Bundy's people.
Those two governors have been quiet in past months, not just over covid, but over the insurgent work they're having to undermine and monitor. Bullock and Inslee aren't talking to the Southern Poverty Law Center, they're talking to the FBI. Inslee's definitely got it the worst.

(21,362 posts)...especially states where landowners and farm managers are dependent on very low-margin monocropping and crops that automated harvest techniques are limited or ineffective for.
While large numbers of farmworkers are seasonal/itinerant, many stay at one end or the other of a long "route" and have an established residence of sorts. Others settle in to do both seasonal and spot work, so that children can attend school and/or families may have access to services, etc., needed on a regular basis.
There is little general information on the population profile of seasonal/itinerant agricultural labor, it's becoming clear that the population in some ways mirrors the general population - large numbers of workers who regarded themselves as "temporary" agricultural labor have never left that lifestyle and are aging and/or in increasingly poor health, with limited resources.
It's a much larger population than many are aware of - but heavily-agricultural red states see it as a problem they do not want to deal with other than "make them go away."

So much damage could have been prevented.

(7,733 posts)Its interesting the reports notes that women are being placed in leadership positions.
This tells me a couple things:
The introduction of women lends credibility. They are attempting to keep it from being just a bunch of idiot guys with nothing to do. The males look up to female Warriors in super-hero terms.
Having females in charge creates a dynamic in which the interaction between subjects takes on new meanings: Protecting the Women-Folk, chest bumping, not backing down.
Those who are pulling the strings are working these groups expertly and dastardly.
ancianita
(43,307 posts)The women are not state leaders, though; just Area leaders within states. All state leaders are still men.

(43,307 posts)So yes, I'm sure the FBI is aware. But I'm not sure if that's a good thing or bad thing, given the past bias of the FBI to 'tolerate' corruption and stealth power grabs for too long.
I'm an old fan of the FBI's counterintell and surveillance work, but that doesn't mean they act on it until the DOJ tells them to. And it doesn't mean that they are quick to nip white supremacists in the bud. In this case, many people in these 16 states and beyond haven't heard about the Bundy network from media, though, have they. Notice which statehouses in Bundy's Area states intend to end democracy through suppression and vote overturning laws. It's all LEO and fascist party networking.
Then, when the groundwork on comms is laid in those states for a civil war, it might be too late for the FBI to turn off the skirmishes before they reach critical mass.

(43,307 posts)we're not being hopeful enough, but the reason for vigilance is so that others -- children, families, old folks -- get to live life happily and well. Or what's a law enforcement system for.
There's room enough for everyone. Some of us are on lookout. Some of us are explainers, lawyers, etc. Some of us are the humorous, or comforters, etc. We're not uniform, but we are unified.
We need to see that our unity is based on many who support each others' differences. But this org is out to attract, purge and unify by other means.

(15,424 posts)i did not know this directly, but assumed this was going on, not just with Ammon, gotta be a bunch of groups like this.
January sixth was NOT the end.
Hitler made his first big move in 1923 and failed with the beer hall putsch, did a 9 month bit.
A decade later weaseled his way into being named chancellor, and shortly after seized complete control.
45 may or may not be around long enough to be there when our democracy breaks, but someone WILL.

I am not finding the location mentions or links of the California chapters. if you happen to have that link, where I can I find it, please post.
I have a need to know. thanks in advance!

(2,571 posts)Klamath Basin is the next hot spot. Not enough water. For anyone. Bundy's thugs are already hanging around there, stirring things up. Not a good scene, even without the goons.
ancianita
(43,307 posts)The Klamath Basin problem has been going on for 20 years, and now Cliven's boy finally wants a water war. Looks like there's corporate farming and water rationing, all complicated because the water competitors ALL lose -- the fish aren't surviving and neither are the farmers. Using a permanent drought as Bundy's flashpoint for fighting the feds looks pretty stupid.
