The Phoenix man who took part in the Jan. 6 raid on the U.S. Capitol wearing a fur hat with horns, apologized on Monday for entering the building and expressed disappointment in former President Donald Trump, at whose behest he had traveled to D.C.

Angeli was seen wandering through the Rotunda and strutting through the U.S. Senate chamber, taking his place behind the dais. It was where, moments before, former Vice President Mike Pence had stood presiding over a joint session of Congress that was counting states’ electoral votes, the final step that certified the election of President Joe Biden and Trump’s defeat.

At the dais, Angeli left a note for Pence that authorities would describe as threatening. It read: “It’s only a matter of time. Justice is coming!”

“I am sorry for having aroused fear in the hearts of others. That was wrong. Period.”

Angeli also asked for patience for himself and others who “are having a very difficult time piecing together all that happened to us, around us, and by us. We are good people who care deeply about our country.”

Ending relationships is never an easy decision if there's a deep emotional tie. Oh it's easy for us to tell someone they should breakup with their s/o, but it's an emotional sledgehammer no matter what. The trick for me to handle it was quite different than most.
