weather wusses on So Cal. When the temperature goes down to 45, we think it is freezing. If we are lucky we will get about 10 days of 40 degree weather. Then I can wear my hoodie zipped up. Spoiled rotten we are.

...people start wearing shorts as soon as it is above freezing. I’ve lived in San Antonio, TX, where people break out their parkas when the temp “dips” to 55 degrees.

My time in San Antonio arose as the result of joining the Air Force nurse corps. I had grown up in Rochester, NY, and found the humid heat of San Antonio unbearable. I remember leaving my apartment one September morning on the way to the base, and is was 62 degrees - it felt GREAT to my northern soul. I laughed out loud when the radio guy said, “Well, folks, better bundle up. It’s a little nippy this morning.” Nippy? Nippy at 62 degrees?

Nippy involves frost.
