Long story short, he had a massive heart attack and is having open heart surgery this morning, if you can spare a good vibe, positive healing thought, or prayer it would be much appreciated.
Hes up walking every few hours. He ended up only needing quadruple bypass.
I cant express how grateful I am for all of the prayer and thoughts and vibes. I dont know what I would do without you all. 💕🙌

(7,947 posts)I'm glad that in the middle of this crisis, they are able to get him into surgery. Best wishes that he'll be on the road to recovery tomorrow!
It must be so difficult when the shutdown restrictions will probably make it hard for family to visit him.

(36,594 posts)The blockage is significant, but hes only 55 and strong. Thank you for sparing a thought for him.

(41,631 posts)The fact that he survived and he's strong enough to get the surgery is a good sign.
My friend Mark had quintuple bypass surgery 10 years ago, and he's healthier now than ever before, and doing great. Mark had a complete change of lifestyle after his surgery, and so will your brother. He'll need a regular schedule of pills and medications, checking his blood pressure, better diet etc. Hopefully your brother will listen to his loved ones AND his doctors, and he can expect to enjoy life for many years more!

(36,594 posts)He has a good attitude and has committed to changing his lifestyle. This gives me so much hope. Thank you!

(41,631 posts)Good luck dear! Let us know how your brother does.
One more thing I forgot to mention about my friend Mark. He was 59 when he got the bypass surgery. His own father had died of a massive heart attack at age 60. Now Mark is happy and healthy at 69, following all the doctors' rules. Your brother can hope for the same.

(14,782 posts)so he will need lots of support and encouragement. I know you're up to the task! Us men are prone to hide our weaknesses.
I've had some friends go through it and for some, the depression prevented them from following up with rehab and then regular exercise. It is a continuing battle for many.
Best wishes and love to you and bro' from the Bluegrass State........

(6,084 posts)Must be a pretty significant blockage to warrant open heart surgery. Stents are way less intrusive and the results are amazing but also have a downside.

(255,525 posts)Heart surgery has come so far in the past few years. My uncle was scheduled for a quadruple bypass a few years back and when I went to see him the previous day, I was not optimistic. Given his age and he looked so frail, I left there feeling scared - but he not only did just fine, he recovered ahead of schedule! So I have every hope for your brother, especially with powerful DU vibes to support him - please let us know how you're both doing.
