General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsLindsey Graham and Marco Rubio are the two most infuriating individuals in politics today.
They would best be classified as bipolar if bipolar was strictly defined as alternating between "possessing instances of pragmatic, independent thought" and "being complete and utterly weak and spineless cowards who will capitulate to partisan political expediency in a nanosecond because they have zero self-respect."
I can trust neither of them because--sadly--they clearly are unable to trust themselves.
It's almost downright tragic.

(16,799 posts)It's called cowardice...both are the most mealy mouthed cowards that you can find anywhere...and that says volumes about the small minded jerks that vote for them!!!

(44,499 posts)It definitely seems that way, at least.
Proud Liberal Dem
(24,958 posts)He has clearly flipped. He wasn't nearly as much of a Trump bootlicker at the start of things as he is now. I wonder if something happened with that fight with his neighbor that has him compromised somehow. It seems like after that is when things sort of shifted for him.

(4,739 posts)They are Republicans. They care about money and power. They are going to hitch their wagons to whomever will get them the most money and power. They could care less about anything else.

gratuitous
(82,849 posts)I had a friend once upon a time who was wholly untrustworthy. If you let him into your confidence, sooner or later he would betray you. Sometimes to protect himself or further his own interest at your expense. Sometimes just for shits and giggles. After getting burned one time too many, I finally figured out that he wasn't to be trusted. A great guy, fun to hang around with, but don't say or do anything around him that you don't want boomeranging on you.
Graham and Rubio sometimes say or do the right thing, but it's mostly by accident. Don't rely on them for anything substantive, don't expect them to be stand-up guys. The only thing you can count on them for is that they will always let you down.

Im sorry, couldnt resist. Admittedly inappropriate.
Rubio still wondering why he brought up glove size to Trump in the primaries.
He hasnt been the same since.
If the glove doesnt fit, youve got a small d***.

(29,406 posts)...size would be brought up (no pun intended) in a presidential primary?? I surely did not.

Mocking a disability
Fat shaming women
Ridiculing war heroes
Calling blacks stupid
Etc etc etc.
I will never forgive todays Repub party for foisting him on the world.

(44,499 posts)People like Graham or Rubio or Collins are a little different because they'll occasionally give you the false hope that they're not just mindless sheep and while we can't expect them to become Democrats, you might expect them to stand up to Trump's evil out of a sense of civic duty.
And then like Lucy pulling the football away, they'll inevitably fall back in line behind Trump even though you know even they can't stand him. But they're too weak to do otherwise.
That's what's so infuriating about them.
