(33,054 posts)I am embarassed at my ignorance. It is a must see program. I just checked to see if it is going to be shown again but can not find a listing.
I have a neighbor who has a granddaughter who is half Chinese. My neighbor is completely oblivious to the fact that her granddaughter is experiencing childhood differently than she did in this all white mostly German American very red state. The child comes over and talks to me all the time when she is staying next door. I think it is because she has met my neice (by marriage) who is Chinese. This child is beautiful, brilliant and an artist.

(5,125 posts)saying he was armed and breaking into the apt. Holy crap - that's how people are shot by police - someone reporting an armed man. The young man said that it was probably someone who did not want him moving in. This is enlightening and scary to me.

Everybody was on point. Most of these incidents had been reported before and those of us paying attention knew about it. However, discussing all of them together with excellent panelists really made it impactfull.
I am thinking we are starting to see a turning point, a push back against overt and covert racism. I am hoping that other big corporations will start or strengthen their sensitivity training. Only by repetition will the culture slowly move in the right direction.
